KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS – WINDOWS, RUN CMD, ETC.

 Keyboard Shortcuts :

 

Keyboard shortcuts is a sequence or combination of keystroke on computer computer which gives commands to the software. Some keyboard shortcuts requires the user to press single key or sequence of keys one after the other and on other hand keyboard shortcuts require pressing and holding several keys simultaneously. keyboard shortcuts depend on layout of keyboard.

Create your own Keyboard Shortcuts :

  • Open folder or directory which contains the Program which you wish to create shortcut file
  • Right click on program and click create shortcut.
  • it will create a shortcut in directory. If you wish to rename press F2 on keyboard.
  • Cut this shortcut and paste where you want to execute program.
  • Right click on shortcut and go to properties.
  • In shortcut tab, click in shortcut key box and press a alphabet. Eg Press “A” shortcut key will automatically created “Ctrl+Alt+A”.
  • press on Apply and then click ok.
  • then use Ctrl+Alt+A to open Program.

Function Keys:

  • F1 Key : Help keyKeyboard shortcuts
  • F2 Key : Commonly used for Rename in windows.
  • F3 Key : Open search feature and also used to cancel any running installation.
  • F4 Key : Open find window. Alt+F4 will be used to close the open windows.
  • F5 Key : F5 used to refresh/reload the page.
  • F6 Key : F6 used move cursor to the Address bar in Internet.
  • F7 Key : Used to spell check and grammar in MS Office
  • F8 Key : Generally used to enter windows startup menu while booting.
  • F9 Key : Opens Measurement toolbar in Quark. update Inbox in Lotus notes.
  • F10 Key : Activates menu bar of an open application.
  • F11 Key : Full screen mode in Internet browsers.
  • F12 Key : Open the Save as window in Microsoft Word.

Windows keyboard shortcuts :

  • WINKEY : Open Start.Keyboard Shortcuts
  • WINKEY + D : Brings you to the Desktop.
  • WINKEY + M : Minimize all windows.
  • WINKEY + Shift +M : to Undo the Minimize.
  • WINKEY + Tab : Cycle through open program through task-bar.
  • WINKEY + F : Display window search
  • WINKEY + F1 : Display Windows help.
  • WINKEY + R : Open run window.
  • WINKEY + U :  Open Utility manager window.
  • WINKEY + L : Lock Computer/Window/Pc.
  • Ctrl + Mouse Scroll wheel : Zoom In/Zoom out.

MS-Word Keyboard Shortcuts {Basics} :

  • Ctrl + Del : Deletes one word to right of cursor.Keyboard Shortcuts
  • Ctrl + Backspace: Deletes one word to left of cursor.
  • Ctrl + End : To Move cursor to the end of the Document.
  • Ctrl + Home : Moves cursor to beginning of Document.
  • Ctrl + Spacebar : Clear format of highlighted text.
  • Ctrl+1/2/5 :  for line spacing.
  • Ctrl + Alt + 1/2/3 : Change text to heading.
  • Ctrl + F1 : Open task pane.
  • F1 ; Open Help.
  • Alt + Ctrl + F2 : Open new document.
  • Shift + F3 : select the text and press Shift + F3 to change the case to upper/Lower.
  • F4 : Repeat the Last action preformed.
  • F5 : Open find, replace and go to window.
  • F7 ; Spell and grammar check of selected.
  • F12 : Save as.
  • Shift + F12 : to save.
  • Ctrl + F12 : Display the Print Preview.

Basics PC Keyboard Shortcuts :

  • Ctrl + A : Select all text.Keyboard Shortcuts
  • Ctrl + X : Cut selected items.
  • Ctrl + C : Copy selected items.
  • Ctrl + V : Paste
  • Ctrl + P : Print
  • F5 : Refresh.
  • Ctrl + Alt + Del : Open task manager
  • Del. : Deleted selected item
  • Esc  : Terminate the operations.
  • Enter : Execute program.
  • Ctrl Z : Undo
  • Ctrl Y : Redo
  • Page Up : Goes to top of document/window.
  • Page Down : Goes to bottom of document/window.

Run Command keyboard shortcuts :

Type to following to open in the run command to open program :

  • calc : to open calculator.
  • charmap : to open character Map.
  • cmd : to open command prompt.Keyboard Shortcuts
  • timedate.cpl : to open date and time properties.
  • cleanmgr : to open Cleanup Utility.
  • Control : to open Control Open.
  • desk.cpl : to open Display properties.
  • inetcpl.cpl : to Open Internet properties,
  • logoff : to Log out Windows.
  • nepa.cpl : to open Network Connections.
  • osk : to Open On Screen Keyboard.
  • intl.cpl : to Open Regional Settings.
